Mariama McCarthy | Broken Scream | Oil on Canvas | 32 x 43 in. | $3,500.00
Mariama McCarthy is an artist, born into a Tuareg nomad family and raised in the Tchin-Tabaraden area in Niger, West Africa. She moved to the U.S in 1993. In 2000 she suffered a stroke. When she recovered, she was unable to stop drawing and painting, and has been making art ever since.
Mariama’s artwork is mostly self expression. She paints her experiences of yesterday and today. In painting, Mariama paints what she feels. It’s her world, without boundaries or limits. Each one of her paintings comes from her soul. When she looks for inspiration, she looks within herself.

Linvel Barker, Kentucky (1929-2004) | Folk Art Cat, 1990 | 13 in. | $1800.00
We are please to offer this fine example by Barker and announce
Morehead State University’s Kentucky Folk Art Center exhibition
“Linvel Barker: Works from the Collection of Rita Biesiot.” running through October 27th.
According to Biesiot, “While I have a large collection of other folk art, mostly three dimensional and mostly made by Kentucky folk artists, my Barkers are my pride and joy, my favorite pieces by far. His work is unique and quite striking, almost like fine art. I still find myself picking up a piece every now and then to feel the wood, to examine the fine lines and features, and to just take in its wonderfulness. I think of Linvel and the great love he had for his wife, Lillian, and the joy they shared making art.”
We just needed another excuse to say HELLO!
We will be updates showcasing new items added (or recently added) to our website and/or 1stDibs page.
We have been posting weekly updates to Facebook, but were afraid (with the ways feeds are finicky these days)…well, that we would miss our chance to connect!
